Azure WordPress Deployment

First let me start by saying I know very little about either Azure or WordPress in terms of using the products. I understand what services they provide as I have heard about these services for quite sometime. I wanted to work on some personal projects as they included deploying something in Azure and having a blog I decided to combined them into one project.

  • Step 0: Find a simple YouTube tutorial. We all know YouTube university is undefeated.
  • Step 1: I started with Azure account
  • Step 3: Deploy WordPress sever
  • Step 4: Find pride in the new experience then realize its costs $50 to keep the server up for 1 week
  • Step 5: Export the site, move to the free tier at WordPress.com instead and shutdown Azure instance.

I have not decided how long I will keep this going therefore paying for a domain and hosting doesn’t seem like a good use of resources. Until I decide what I am going to do long term I will keep this on the free tier.
