Wireless infrastructure on campus scale.
Scope
- Wireless connectivity for student academic needs
- Wireless connectivity for staff and teacher academic support to students
- Stable network suitable for online testing
- Install necessary switches, routers and access points
- Add necessary cabling to support new equipment
- Traffic management and QoS for priority traffic
- Robust security and network segmentation
- Manage device authorization on network
- Scalability
Potential Issues
- Faulty connections
- Obsolete network gear currently part of the network
- Obsolete/faulty ports
- Power reliability
- Staff and student disruptions due to down time of network
- Insufficient broadband speed for number of users
- Equipment sourcing issues due to low supply due to market conditions
Design considerations
- Lab is primarily root of network
- Secondary node in server room of admin building
- Admin build has less device needs but higher reliability needs eg, staff and principal’s offices.
- Staff room is housed in south building
- Wi-Fi should be accessible throughout the whole campus
- Consider possibility of PBX and/or camera systems could be added in the future
- Network bandwidth should prioritize exam connectivity and office operations
